The Second Greatest Command

b3ad142d1ecbe01267bf5bf1cb32b444Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to love God, and the second greatest is to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:36-40). These two things are perhaps the most difficult things we could ever be called upon to do! It is easy to love a stranger in a far-away city or foreign country – just send him a check to take care of his needs. But to love a neighbor in the way Jesus teaches demands personal involvement and commitment. It involves the giving of ourselves, our time, our immediate presence, and our demonstrated compassion. He showed us how to do this when He died for us! MR
